In India most of the traditional Taxi/ Cab services used to be in black or yellow coloured ambassadors as time passed there was a tilt towards Tata indica and indigo. They became very famous because of their design, mileage and low in cost. Even now you find such cabs in many places. There are even certain routes where only taxi rule the road, you don’t even find government buses or any auto transport means.

In cities like Mumbai only Taxis rule either having fare-meter installed or not. In many incidents you find bargaining between taxi drivers and customers although Indian Government strictly imposed rules to install fare-meter installed to protect customers from unfair charges. As you see sharing auto rikshaw, there are also sharing Taxis which float on road for shorter distances, normally from one point to another.
